Cecil K. was born in Uzbekistan in 1963. His family is of Turkishdescent, and as a child he spoke both Turkish and Uzbek. His firstartistic experience was in sixth grade sketching a horse. From thatday on, sketching with pencil was one of his favorite hobbies. Heattended high school in the late 1970s, then attended art universityfrom 1978 to 1982. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts and paintedoften, only taking a hiatus while he served in the Uzbek army from1982 to 1984. Upon returning from active duty, he began working ata textile factory. He married his childhood sweetheart, named Sairaand together they have two children, a son named Arsen and adaughter named Fatima.

In 1989, Cecil moved to Krasnadar, Russia where he escaped to arural lifestyle working on farms and orchards. The demanding farm work relegated art to aperiphery until he moved to Antalya, Turkey in 1998. There, he worked with a partner to createadvertising campaigns for local companies. During this time, Cecil began painting again. Thecreativity of advertising unearthed his love of painting and he continued to pursue his talentsduring this time in his life. For the following eight years, Cecil would move back and forthbetween Turkey and Russia.

In April 2005, political turmoil in Russia forced Cecil to immigrate to the United States underrefugee status. Cecil, his wife and their two children arrived in the U.S. With the help of familyalready there, they made their way to Atlanta. Cecil went through a difficult time of transitionupon arriving in the U.S. He found himself painting more regularly and with a greater emotionaldepth than ever before. He began painting with acrylics to achieve his signature bright colors. Anacquaintance suggested he begin selling his artwork to local galleries, an endeavor he had notpreviously considered. He was making a living selling his artwork for the first time, a period hefondly remembers this as the most exhilarating time of his life.

On November 1, 2005 Cecil started working at Deljou Art Group. Inspired by great artists of history, he created series such as Ode to Monet and Tango. Cecil K began painting his landscapes with an open, clear mind and let the painting guide him. He starts by choosing the colors and shapes and feels where the painting is going. Armed with nothing but a pallet knife and seven base colors, he is able to create very recognizable art work that portrays great emotion in any color imaginable. His work can be found internationally and across the United States in galleries as well as within residences of private collectors.
