Mia Stone is a free spirit with a deliberate, "I MEANT to do that!" attitude. She has had creative and adventurous career goals from a very young age and a passion for all things art. Preferring to work under the guidance of an inspirational melody, she can always be found in her studio immersed in bright color and song.
With a heart that beats for the great outdoors, much of Mia Stone's childhood was spent exploring, and at a young age she developed a sense of inspirational growth while immersed in nature. A transition to the city compelled Stone to search for diverse forms of creative expression in an attempt to reconnect with the natural environment of her youth. She began to avidly explore the world of music - playing guitar and singing - before realizing that her passion lay in the visual arts.
With the help of a mentor at Florida State University, she chose metal sculpting as one of her primary art forms in pursuit of her fine art degree. She also excelled in painting, displaying a remarkably colorful, spontaneous and totally unique style that reflected her natural impulses. She left the university to backpack across South America and study in Europe, where she continued to improve her conceptual and technical approaches.
Upon returning to the United States, she felt ready to embrace an artistic career. Her artwork began to represent an intriguing tension between organic earth tones and vibrant, geometric shapes. Her abstracts seemed like snapshots, conveying the story of modern experience through the primitive symbols of a universal language.
