Judy Hintz Cox

Judy Hintz Cox is a contemporary abstract artist. She started painting thirty years ago while living in South America after serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador. At the start of her career, her artworks were displayed at shows in Peru and Brazil. Throughout her career, she has had over 60 exhibits (including single, dual and group shows) around the globe. Her works are in collections worldwide and have appeared in numerous magazines including a cover spread in InStyle magazine.

Cox creates her abstract paintings in a frenzied manner known as gestural abstraction, which is both emotionally and physically draining. Searching for a contrast, she decided to explore mixed media, which calls for accurate decisions and technique. She enjoys working on several series at a time to keep her work fresh, and so that she can continue to explore different mediums. From charcoal, oil paints and sticks, to burnt encaustic, cut up old paintings, watercolor, newspaper, and pictures - Cox enjoys the freedom of it all.
